The new BYD Seal is Here

The new 2026 model year BYD Seal is now in BYD Galway.

The 2026 model introduces several enhancements and improvements over the already highly regarded Seal that launched in Ireland in 2024.

Below you can learn what has changed with this new arrival as well as see pricing for both Seal Design and Seal Excellence.  

The biggest improvement: luggage space

The most meaningful real-world upgrades are in the area of practicality.

  • Rear boot grows from 400L to 485L.
  • Front storage ("frunk") increases from 53L to 72L.
  • Additional boot hooks help secure loose items.

For many owners this addresses one of the very few criticisms of the original Seal: the relatively small boot opening and luggage capacity.

Technology upgrades

The 2026 model introduces:

  • A Driver Monitoring System (DMS) to meet newer European safety requirements.
  • A Bluetooth digital key, allowing the car to be unlocked and started using a digital key stored in a smartphone wallet.

Otherwise, the large rotating 15.6-inch touchscreen, Dynaudio audio system, panoramic roof, heated/ventilated seats and general infotainment setup remain the same with the latter featuring BYD's latest DiLink infotainment system.

Styling Changes

The exterior changes are subtle yet noticeable:

  • A new 19-inch alloy wheel design
  • Three new exterior colours:
    • Ruby Red Metallic
    • Obsidian Black Metallic
    • Lavender Grey Metallic
  • Revised rear badging layout with the BYD logo centred above the light bar.
